Media Advisory

For Immediate Release – December 12, 2017

Bassano Town Council confirmed last night that the Bassano Chamber of Commerce had dissolved and have invited the Brooks and District Chamber of Commerce to “…include Bassano in their trading area and support the business community of Bassano.”

“The Town of Bassano endeavours to support local and area businesses” said Jackie Peterson, Mayor of Bassano. “The Brooks & District Chamber staff are best informed and trained on what and how the Chamber can assist and provide value to these businesses.  While Bassano and area businesses are not required to join the Brooks Chamber, it is another avenue for them to maintain and build a strong and vibrant business community” she added.

Before the Chamber can formally include the Town of Bassano in their trading area, there are a few formalities that need to be completed.

“The Chamber is incorporated under the Boards of Trade Act,” noted Kyle R. Franz, Director of Member Relations at the Chamber. “We look forward to working with Mayor Peterson and the good folks in the federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Economic Development to formally represent Bassano’s business community.”

This announcement caps off an exciting year for the Chamber. We look forward to deepening our commitment to a back-to-basics agenda and will be putting forward continuing to advocate for our Members and providing an exciting program in 2018.
